Privacy policy

In short: this website sets no cookies, uses no tracking and loads no third-party content unless you choose to. Personal data is processed only in the technically required server log files, when you contact us by e-mail or phone and — only after your click — when you play a Vimeo video.

1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

2. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany, under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

Each time a page is requested, the web server automatically processes the following data in server log files:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • date and time of the request
  • page or file requested and amount of data transferred
  • referring website (referrer)
  • browser and operating system used

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the correct delivery of the website and the detection and prevention of attacks on our systems. Log files are kept by the hosting provider for a limited period only and then deleted, unless they are needed in an individual case to investigate a security incident.

3. No cookies, no tracking, no automatically loaded third-party content

This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics or tracking services. Fonts, graphics and scripts are served exclusively from our own server; merely viewing a page makes no connection to third-party servers (in particular not to Google Fonts). No social media plug-ins are used.

The website contains plain links to external sites, e.g. our LinkedIn profile, scientific publications or the websites of partners and reference customers. Only when you click such a link are you taken to that provider's site, whose privacy policy then applies.

3a. Vimeo videos (two-click solution)

Our homepage embeds a video hosted on Vimeo, provided by Vimeo.com, Inc., New York, USA. The video is loaded only after you click the preview area; before that, no data is sent to Vimeo.

After your click, your browser connects to Vimeo's servers and transmits in particular your IP address, date and time, the referring page and technical information about your browser and device. We embed the player with the parameter "dnt=1", which instructs Vimeo not to collect usage data for analytics; whether Vimeo nevertheless sets cookies is beyond our control.

The legal basis is your consent given by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG). Consent applies only to that playback; on your next visit the video is again loaded only after a click. Data may be transferred to the USA; Vimeo states that it participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. More information: Vimeo privacy policy.

4. Contacting us by e-mail or phone

This website has no contact form. If you contact us by e-mail or phone, we process the data you provide (e.g. name, organisation, e-mail address, phone number, content of your request) in order to handle your request.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to entering into or performing a contract, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries). Our mailboxes are also operated by IONOS. Your data is not passed on to third parties unless this is necessary to handle your request — for example to one of our sales partners in your region, which we will tell you about beforehand.

5. Job applications

Application documents sent to us by e-mail are processed to carry out the application procedure (Section 26 BDSG, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). If no employment results, we delete them no later than six months after the procedure has ended, unless you have consented to longer storage.

6. Storage period

We store personal data only as long as necessary for the respective purpose. Business correspondence is subject to statutory retention obligations under German commercial and tax law (generally six or ten years); the data is deleted once these periods have expired.

7. Your rights

You have the right at any time to

  • access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
  • rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR),
  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
  • withdraw any consent given, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).

Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): where we process data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.

An informal message to info@protemics.com is sufficient to exercise your rights.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany, www.ldi.nrw.de.

8. Encryption

This website is delivered exclusively over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS). E-mails are encrypted in transit where your provider supports it; end-to-end encryption is not used unless separately agreed.

9. No automated decision-making

No automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.
